K + J spent the morning getting ready in separate Airbnbs. James and his crew were drinking beers and celebrating the special day. Of course he was nervous hiding behind his big smile. Katie was more relaxed and comforted with her mom and close friends by her side.
Both locations were intentional and full of so much love and support by their friends and family, which is what I recommend anyone wanting to include family in their elopement.
Lovers Knoll Wedding Ceremony
Their Sedona elopement was originally planned at the top of Lovers Knoll, but another wedding was already at the ceremony spot. So, we pivoted—and honestly, the backup location couldn’t have been more perfect.
Tucked away in on the hillside of Lovers Knoll with Cathedral Rock directly behind them, they said “I do.” Greenery surrounded us. It was quiet, intimate, and so much more private. The light was soft from the rain earlier that day, and clouds added a dreamy layer over the desert.
Secret Slick Rock Sunset Sedona Wedding Portraits
After the ceremony, we headed to Secret Slick Rock for sunset portraits. It’s just around the corner from Lovers Knoll and has an even closer view of Cathedral Rock. Katie had the cutest little baby bump, and we made sure to include it in their wedding portraits.
Days like this are why I love being an elopement photographer. The day was stress-free, relaxing, and a touch of adventure.
